Overview about our project
Before we started this project we were wondering if and how the different cultures, lifestyles, rules and circumstances influence the sects on various continents.
Therefore we studied different sects as examples to answer our question.

Disclaimer: we sadly couldn‘t find a sect from Antarctica that would fit into our project, so we had to leave the continent out.
What is a sect?
A sect is a subgroup of a religious, political, or philosophical belief system, usually an offshoot of a larger group. Although the term was originally a classification for religious separated groups, it can now refer to any organization that breaks away from a larger one to follow a different set of rules and principles.
Why we chose this topic
When we were asked to choose a topic for our project class work, without any guidelines or restrictions, we found ourselves struggling to come up with an idea that was realistic given the time frame and also appeling and interesting for both of us. Firstly, we coincidentally read about the sect Omū Shakaro established by the sect leader Schoki. His story intrigued us and we decided to choose sects and cults as the main focus of our project. Later, the idea to connect the different living standards and circumstances on several continents to sects and theire development formed.
In our opinion, it is really enriching and important to learn about the different parts of the world and gain a small insight into other cultures and livestyles. We hope our project can support others to see the world from another point of view.
Assesment
In order to come to a conclusion at the end of our project, we needed to find an appropriate way of evaluating the results. As a main part of the project, we will, as said, present different continents, circumstances and sects. In the evaluation, we decided to summarise all the information and give our own opinion on the main question.
